Following last year’s PESA conference in Auckland, a group of academics attending a workshop delivered by Dr Christoph Teschers formed a new research group focused on exploring how an education system could look like that has the flourishing and development of students’ own art of living at heart. The group includes researchers from various New Zealand and Australian universities and is open to accept new members interested in the topic.
The group has made inroads over the past couple of months and will present a collaborative symposium at the upcoming PESA Conference in Christchurch in December this year on questions around
- why we should aim for flourishing and an art of living in education,
- What is schooling? How can we re-imaging it?
- How would flourishing at schools look like from a student’s point of view?
- How can we create space to transfer knowledge in practical wisdom?
- What is the role of ‘love’ and ‘loving gaze’ in education?
- How does the environment/setting of schools and centres impact on the development of students’ personality and flourishing?
- What about flourishing for teachers?
